Advances in researches and operational applications of ensemble prediction are briefly reviewed.The four aspects of ensemble prediction,ie the generation of initial perturbation,the choice of numerical models,the abstraction of forecasting information,and the evaluation of forecasting system and results,are involved,in this paper,which can be used as a reference in the research on improving the operational ensemble forecasting in China.
